West Point Orienteering Trip

We had an awesome orienteering trek at West Point on the weekend of September 30 to October 2. Not only did the Scouts learn the basics of reading a map and how to orient a compass, they also learned to navigate through upstate New York's wilderness by utilizing the skills they learned in the seminars. West Point is a fantastic trip where the Scouts get a chance to learn orienteering directly from the cadets. They were then able to show their new skills in competitions Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. However, these competitions weren't the best part of the trip. On Saturday night, the Scouts had the privilege to partake in a mock cadet training, where they crawled under barbed wire, scaled walls, and braved the shouts and orders from the cadets. As one of the best trips of the season, West Point did not disappoint!
