Poletown/Feast

posted Nov 7, 2016, 3:40 PM by Troop67 Historian
This past weekend the Scouts of Troop 67 enjoyed a relaxed and fun trip into the woods of Northern New Jersey for the annual Feast Trek. Early Saturday, Scouts used bamboo poles to compete against other patrols to build the best structure or shelter; the Scouts used their lashing and knot skills they learned throughout the month in order to build their shelters. Later in the day, Scouts cooked a variety of dishes for the afternoon feast. The dishes included a slow roasted pig, a turkey, turducken, steak, mashed potatoes, corn, chicken wings, roasted potatoes, potato chips, mac & cheese, donuts, fried Oreos, and more (remember that all of these dishes were made in the middle of the woods!). Overall the feast is a great trek for Scouts to practice their lashing skills, as well as their cooking skills. We had a blast and look forward to next year's trek!
